On behalf of the Government of the United States of America, the Department of State proposes to extend the 1999 Agreement for an additional period until July 2, 2014. If the Government of the Republic of Korea considers this proposal acceptable, the Department of State further proposes that this note and the Embassy's note in reply shall constitute an agreement between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the Republic of Korea to extend the 1999 Agreement, which shall enter into force on July 2, 2009.
